nothing too special or exotic. '84 Schwinn Traveler. Can carry up to three full grocery bags and still be nimble enough for city traffic. Now features a VO chainguard for cleaner pants.

thank you both.
yes. I like the look of them but also that it sweeps back with virtually no drop. I find that it's comfortable and relaxed, not aggressive but allows me to just lean slightly forward if I want to pick up the pace and keep up with traffic. I just wrap with cloth tape and finsh the ends with some wooden plugs. This is my second one, I had a catastrophic failure last summer on a large stretch of potholes. I have the VO left bank bars on a bike that I keep at my mom's for visiting but I didn't like the rise as much for the way I ride this bike. So I threw caution to the wind and just got them again.

How is that wooden crate attached to that rack, is it easily removable when not in use?

I just used a piece of punched steel flat bar Crown Bolt 1-3/8 in. x 36 in. Zinc Steel Punched Flat Bar with 1/16 in. Thick-18040 - The Home Depot cut into two lengths and two screws/locknuts each. It acts like a strap. If I just loosen two on one side it comes off in a minute or so. I never remove it because this rack sucked for panniers anyway. I have another bike that reserve those for. I do a lot of woodwork and cabinet stuff so I can strap a fair amount of power tools down on the deck of this crate easier than in my panniers. It's also great for large bags of dog food for my two small dogs. I have a trailer but the potholes were just too much for me last year. Some roads were virtually impassible while towing (for me, at least). This is me adapting.

After bar tape and front rack. It will never be this clean again, so might as well get a photo out of it

Neither. Buy my Trek with VO Porteurs! I'm definitely selling it this time. Need proper track shoes for the sw8fixy.

I don't think potholes caused them to break; something else such as corrosion/stress riser or over tightened clamp...

I originally converted this raw bike to a SS but then decided to convert that to a townie. This is what it should have been all along. Hard to believe I could like it better than I did before.

I think these grips complement the rivets on the C17 nicely
