ANY info on this bike? please
 

When i was about 7 years old i saw a kid riding one of these. Randomly for the rest of my life ive thought about that bike and wondered WTF it was and how damn cool it was. At the time i wanted it more than anything. Over the years ive told many people about that bike i saw then. Riding BMX for half my life its come up many times and no has ever knew WTF i was talking about. I never saw another one until just recently here in Tokyo hanging in a bike shop. Its not for sale.
All i know is that its from the 70s probably and its German.
I havent had any luck on the web looking for it..now that i know its proper name. I still want one.
Its so killer to see it in action. I wish you could. The rear end can come swinging out if you want to while youre riding it. You can fish the rear around and ****. Its so badass.
I could probably make one out of two thrift store BMXs but i want the real deal if possible.
Anyone have any info?

part unicycle part bmx. prob slow riding but good at tricks.

I've never seen a commercially made one, but they're generally referred to as swing bikes. I've only seen homemades. it may have been used in the circus or something.

You could just weld a unicycle to a front fork and headset via two tubes like that. As long as you get matching wheel-sizes you'd be set. Hell, it might be more fun with mismatched wheels.

Youre right. I could get a cheap unicyle and weld the top tube of a bmx to it and make the down tube go straight to the uni as well. Would be super easy that way.
Just need to find a cheap unicyle on the web. Anyone ride those things? Cheap is good. 20"

I don't think thats a Swingbike. Swingbike's typically don't have direct drive, unicycle like drivetrains on them. Clearly a variation of... I'm just saying that I've never seen a bike like that in the Swingbike info. Even though referred to there as such, that looks more like a circus bike thing than a swingbike.

FYI: I've got a commercially made Swingbike from the 90's, the "original" ones called "Swingbikes" were made in the 70's. There have been various smaller manufacturers marketing the gimmick since then. They're lots of fun, highly reccomended.

It looks like you could angle both the bars and seat 45 degrees or so and go down hills at an angle. I want one too.

I ran into it after learning to ride a unicycle. I picked one up from a guy at grants tomb (There's a unicycle club that meets there twice a month).

Ah, yes, the "Stupid Trick Cycle" as we called it. It has the 80s-freestyle-trick bars, but is way too flimsy to ever do a handstand on them. The back seattube doesn't even have bearings, just a crappy latex bushing. These things are really cheap, I've seen them retail for $20. Comes in a 20" and 24", the bigger one being much easier for a grownup to ride. These things have vertical head-tubes, unlike many swingbikes, so they don't tilt when they swing. The fact that it's a unicycle too means you can bust infinite wheelies (and, as noted, also makes it different than the traditional swingbike). My favorite is the curb rides you can pull on them. Personally, you should make your own rather than buying this thing.

By the way, don't think you're going to hook a bunch of these up together and make a giant snake bike, it won't work, Cyclecide tried it. The very magic that makes two wheels stand up fades when more wheels are going in more directions.
