Looking for a frame for SS

Hi,

I'm trying to build a SS road bike, but am having trouble finding a decent frame. I am looking for something in 58cm, preferably aluminum since I want the responsiveness. Does anyone have any recommendations? It needs either horizontal dropouts (and I would prefer one without a derailleur hanger) or track fork ends. New would be good, unless you had a specific frame or frames I should look for used.

Thanks,

Mike

I know where to get the frames, but I have no idea what are brands to look for or avoid. If it helps, I am trying to keep the whole bike under 700 dollars. I tried ebay and this forum, but could not find any relevant beginner info.

How long did you try this forum for... 30 seconds? Everything you could possibly ever need to know to build a SS is here. Spend a few days reading around and you'll have what you desire. Sorry, I'm fresh out of spoons to feed you with.

So I'm guessing that you didn't read the thread titled "*RESOURCE
THREAD: Single Speed and Fixed Gear*". It's here:

I have read almost 40 pages of the "budget frame" topic and know exactly what frame I want for a fixed. Only problem is I want a SS. I dont know if the same frames work, ie track fork ends/horizontal dropouts etc...

If you had read 40+ pages of threads here on cheap bikes, you'd have noticed that almost all of the budget fixed gears around here run flip-flop hubs, i.e. THE EXACT SAME setup for fixed or SS.

Question answered.

Next thread.
