Another use for Deep Vs... :)

Hey all....I'm a photographer in Long Beach, CA and I get around to all my assignments by bike (either my fixie or my xtracycle). I've been staring at my Deep Vs and thought it would be awesome to put some sort of graphic on it. I was going to do an elaborate design around the wheel but the design would be too complex for a vinyl cutter. Anyway, I decided it would make great advertising space while I was stopped at lights or parked in front of a restaurant :)

love the angle on that last photo - and the colored rims! ::dreams of buying a new wheelset when the current one is Just Fine::

only problem is a large portion of people on fixed gears don't like logos, and things like chris king headsets piss them off.

nice idea though.

xcapekey 04-24-07 10:57 PM

i'd like to think of it less as a logo and more like guerilla advertising and creative reuse of space :)

Gyeswho 04-24-07 11:03 PM

very clever and good use of space. i hope you get more business now cuz of your creativity

I run a CK headset on my otherwise logo-less bike because the Ritchey one I had sucked butt and developed play in the first 100 miles. Hopefully I won't be killed by the style police.

Cool blog and thanks for the article on the Bikestation, I really like that place. :D Add a Rss feed to your blog too. Thanks.

there's nothing wrong with owning the best headset on the market, i was merely pointing out that some people don't like any logos on their bikes.

fatlace already done did it.

MKRG 04-24-07 11:34 PM

Do what you want, but if anyone tags my bike I'funa bust their ass.

What color are those rims? They look like wood.

And the fatlace rims are awesome. Not sure how they'd actually look on a bike, but they look good on their own.

People always advertise by putting up random URLs everywhere. This is so stupid. Who the **** will actually remember some random URL, then go home and type it in before they forget about it? It is like getting an anonymous email saying "Click here!!!" only it is less convenient.

I've done it. If I know it's a URL I won't remember, I'll write it down on some scrap piece of paper in my pocket. That's why I always carry a couple of those mini Sharpies in my pockets. From strip clubs, to rock climbing clothing companies to personal websites listed on people's blogs to ones found in print advertising to car enthusiast sites written on various cars. Just call me a shaved head URL ho. I've found some interesting s*** sometimes.

xcapekey 04-25-07 08:57 AM

What kind of bag/setup do you have mounted on the seatpost? it looks like something I could use. How much weight can you put in there?

Smorgasgeorge 04-25-07 09:58 AM

I have FORTIFIED stickers on my wheels to promote my friends clothing company.....too bad everyone thinks it's in regards to wine.

Hey, now your bike can be depreciated on your taxes!

griffin_ 04-25-07 10:49 AM

Whats funny is that reading your comment made me remember a url i saw on a car a couple of days ago and I just checked out the site. Apparently, they do work occasionally.
