Hi people, has anyone out there had any experience with a Shimano Coaster Brake Set CB-E110? I'm thinking of building up a wheelset with this hub, for a frame with 130mm spacing. Anyone know what width the hub is or where I could find out? Cheers,

I only had a 'merikan measurin' pole and its late so
I dont know the mm's, but from the cog to the brake
arm is 3.5" and the axle is 6" on a cheepo Schwinn I have.

thanks man, do you think you can measure the distance in between your dropouts? you don't have to squeeze them together to do up the back wheel at all, do you? very much appreciated!

4.5"...about 114/115 mm's.
This is a StingRay with a huge slick if that makes
a difference.

I love coaster brakes !
I run a coaster on my beater and the only thing I
would say to keep in mind is that running the fattest
tire you can will increase brake power. But, you prolly
already knew that !

Cheers Ninja, I dinnae know that! I haven't ridden a coaster since I was 8 (25 years ago) and I'm building up a roadie/coaster setup. Just for the skids! Have you got any pics? I'm getting excited - a new challenge!

But really, I went to it out of necessity. I ride year round.
The Vermont winters wrecked my classic Motobecane and
started to wreck my Peugeot. I couldnt keep up with the toxic
sploodgie that ate parts like a hungry CHUD !! The SS is virtually
NO maintanance although I do WD-40 it occasionally.
I only ride fixt and SS now. SS is the best of both worlds. Its not
as easy to pedal or quite as fast as the fixie, obviously, but you make
up the difference on the downhills. A 40lb superchunk can get hella
speed up on a 1 mile downhill

I will, definitely. doubleoh2 on velospace as well... This one's going to be a cream/celeste/black/brown with a touch of red theme. cream and celeste fade frame, red saddle, brown deep v's, black brooks tape with a brown brooks tape chainstay guard. Not that I need one, just like the brooks tape... It's going to be my beater tho, we don't have to worry about salty sludge in Oz, even in winter. I cringe when I see the snow and stuff you guys have to ride through, unbelievable! That's what attracted me to the coaster hub, lack of maintenance, coasting, no cables, no rim rub, with brakes! Too good! Cheers ninja!

The 110 in the model name is the width dropout it is intended to go in. Any wider and you'll have to bend things to get the nuts on all the way.

I have that hub on my Steamroller. Front drum also, because rim brakes are for squares.

I rebuilt a bendix 2sp with a coaster and it fit perfectly in a road frame that was space around 120mm. Chainline and all was cool. No bending needed.

The strumey archer XRD has an OLD of something like 135 and takes normal thread on freewheels.

Is it possible to change the sprocket on the Shimano hub? getting forced to run a small chainring on my cranks therefore looking at something like a 14tooth on the rear...

Don't know if it'll take a 14, but you can definitely change the sprocket.
