Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

the best bike lock

Couple of days ago in my town, some bees found new home on a parked bike in the city centre

It took more than 2 hours to "liberate" the bike

Why the hell did hundreds of bees decide to land right there on that bike?

And more curiously, what is that woman doing in the filming of a gay porn?

Wow, that would suck.

I've heard that bees will travel, and while taking a rest or whatever they do... the queen lands and is surrounded by the other bees for protection. It's not a permanent home.... but definatly nothing I want to deal with on my bike.

There's always going to be one rogue bee who says "I'm not joining you guys, I'm going to sit here, on the downtube." That's if Italian bees speak English.

The same thing happened to my dad's mailbox last year when the bee keepers in the area moved the bee boxes.

What is the length of the top tube on that thing? It looks tiny, but I know we've all been tricked by parallax before.

bees swarm once a year when a new queen is born half of the colony break off to find a new place and start a new colony to support the new queen the bees would have left in a few hours they tend to land on a few different things/ places before they settle and a bicycle isn't the most choice

I think I would've just left the bike as is until they went away. How to do you make them go away, swat 'em with a stick and run for your life; repeat as neccessary?

My solution would probably involve alot of high octane gasoline and some sort of high pressure atomizing device. I'd probably end up walking home in the end.

haha, i love when people photo document these sort of happenings.

i think somethingawful is a meeting place for people that are invaded by bees, seriously. i've read at LEAST 3 memorable bee encounters on the somethingawful boards, and i haven't even been there in forever.

Well, solution 1 would have been calling a beekeeper to take'em away. Afaik they get their bees this way.
Solution 2 is wait until they go. The'll not stay right there. Of course, they might pick your garage or whatever... ooops
