I second the White ENO freewheels. I have been running three of them for over a year now without incident. The SS 29er sees muck on a daily basis; the SS cx pushed through the salt of winter. You can find them for $50'ish on ebay. If they last longer than 2 Shimano freewheels, you are golden.

I've used Dicta, ACS, and Shimano freewheels. I never had a problem with any of them, even in mud or saltly winter muck. My ACS freewheel makes some additional but very minor noises and isn't perfectly round, but it does the job just fine. I say go with whatever's cheapest and if at some point in the future you find that the cheap ones aren't holding up for you, go with something pricier like WI.

I've used ACS and shimano freewheels- ACS tend to develop an annoying knocking sound, but seem more durable than the quieter shimano freewheels.
