6 New Langsters
Looks like I found the bike I need to get:
Specialized Langster CHICAGO http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...terChicago.png and the others: Langster New York http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...terNewYork.png Langster Boston http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sterBoston.png Langster London http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...sterLondon.png Langster Seattle http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...terSeattle.png Langster http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...t/Langster.png |
Sugino RD's? That's a leg up over the competition. Still... I'm wary of gimmicks. And compact geometry.
|
Sha-weeet! Change out the crank for a 48t and I'd go for the Chicago.
|
damn that bvlows away the entry level competition, what are the prices on those
|
What does the Boston one have to do with Boston?
Does it say "Yankees Suck" somewhere in the black paint? It should be red and white up front, fading to green, white and orange. And come with a riot shield? |
No San Francisco? Carbon risers and an aerospoke?

Langster 07's go for $660 (on the website), so I'd guess at least $700 for one of the city Langsters. |
I like the general idea they are going for, however none of them get me all that excited. It would have been cool if they let people from each of the cities have input into their model. They could have given some more local flavor.
also whats up with NYC being the only one without pedals? are there no pedals in New York? |
the green seattle is fresh. it just needs a brown brooks.

Doomkin, do you have pics of the new SS tricross?
|
Sweet. Im totally going to have to save up for a boston (and I will put a Yankees Suck! sticker on it)
|
Im digging this whole idea, but it seems like it kinda takes from the fun of doing it yourself, finding cool risers, fenders, cranks and what not.. you can really see the trend and the market is high for ss fixed gear scene. For example lastnight me and two other buddies were hanging out downtown fairly late and a columbus police officer stopped to see what we were up to and make sure we weren't on the marble on the federal building any way.. he asked my buddy what gear ratio he was running, then asked me.. then wanted to know what majority were running. He told us he just bought a cannondale track frame and wants to make it a SS with a freewheel flip flop to eventually go fixed. Kinda funny, I see people getting in trouble for not having brakes in portland and what not, while columbus police are trying to get into the game.
Oh yeah and is that a blue messenger zen on the london?? are they going to start making colors!! |

I really dig the general idea behind this, but am assuming they're gonna be a niche/limited supply item to drive up interest, and the price premium to the regular Langster (already a little pricey relative to its comps, in my opinion) makes it a bit of a non-starter.
That said, I'm gonna be in the market for a $500-ish SSFG later this summer, and this does spur me to think more creatively about my upcoming bike, whether I build it from scratch, or buy a complete bike and make some parts swaps to personalize it a little. |
