Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

BMX brake Question

I've got my old UO8 Peugeot down to SS and I want to put a new brake up front--someone suggested a a cheap bmx brake. I know I can do the BMX lever, I just don't know if BMX calipers could fit on a road bike with any adjustment. Somehow I don't think so, but figured I'd give it a shot. I've got the original Mafac brakes but don't want to deal with the clunkers. Thanks for any ideas.

Umm....BMX calipers do have a variety of reaches just like road ones. And you can always easily modify them to get more/less reach

There is a lower limit for reach that you can get with any calipers... hell, some track bikes have the crown so low that even modern short-reach brakes won't work. I'd go to a nice shop with you bike and ask if they'll let you check to see if it will work.
