Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Let me ask, was the bike locked and with what? This would give all an Idea how to better secure their bikes. I no longer live in Madtown but I do know that in the last 10 years it has taken a big ****.....

I'm a little surprised at people stealing fixies. To me, riding fixed is an acquired taste and most people want something they can just tule along on. A fixie just ain't that, I'm sorry. I can't imagine a thief going more then ten feet when they realize the darned thing won't freewheel. I guess I need to get my imagination checked.

So true! Again, how was the bike stolen? Did they just leave it in the rack unlocked?Locked? Was the chain cut? Inquiring minds want to know?

Mickey's smells like piss! The area code is 608

yeah, my buddy thinks that a fixed is least to get stolen since not everyone can ride them..imagine the 'thief' trying to stop after he just stole a bike at 20mph..haha

That's kind of what I always thought; thief jumps on and speeds off, "Where are those darned shifters?" Tries to coast, goes over handlebars, abandons fixie. But, I have to admit I see a lot more fixies running around these days.

And this is all assuming thief will be riding the stolen bike away. That is not always the case, B.
