Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

large, black...

...chainrings.

do they make them? like in 54-tooth? (i'm spec'ing out a build on a swift folder frame. rag on me for color-matching if you wish.) the only ones i've found are by FSA, and not only do they have huge tacky logos, they're more than twice as expensive as, say, a silver sugino 54t chainring. i also checked out the salsa chainrings, and for some reason only the small sizes come in black.

From the custom chainrings thread?:

stronglight does some big ones, but you'll probably have to go through xxcycle.com. Shipping is like $10, but the prices are good overall.

i actually decided to run 48x13, which should give me around 70 gear inches with 20"x50mm Big Apple tires. but thanks for the suggestions everyone!
