can you bleach a leather saddle?

I want to buy a new brooks soon, but I want it white. Can leather be bleached or will it look like ****? Anyone got a better alternative?

No, you can't bleach dyed leather.

Although I think it's a horrible idea to have a white leather saddle (it won't be white for long....) your best bet is to take it to the local shoe repair shop where they can possibly spray it white. It might turn out okay, but most likely will be splotchy.

I say this with a background in leather working.

Good question. Check this out> Seems like quite a process. Heres a guide about leather dying but I'm not sure how well it would work on a brooks with your ass rubbing on the saddle constantly.

If looks are what you're after, just get a Regal. I don't know how comfy they are though, but I haven't heard any complaints.
