Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Looking for Racks

Hey guys idk if this thread should be in commuting or touring but its going on a fixie so ill start here for now, im looking to make my fixie a carry all, or almost all. Well im looking for racks to put on the front and rear of my bike to carry anything from groceries to things that just wont fit in my chrome bag. So im open to all suggestions. The only thing that would be great is that the racks would have clearance for my fenders.

Thanks for any input.

What mounts do you have on your frame? If you don't know, what model is the frame?

I have a nice blackburn rear rack. in my opinion seatpost mounted racks suck

edit: They especially suck for "Carry-All" applications.

I like these if you have front lowrider mount racks on your fork (not likely on a road frame/unheard of on a track frame):

and this is what I ride with on the rear of my touring bike:

(the EX-1 is what I have)

I think a simple rack (chrome or black, depending on your bike) would work well. I got one of the Ortleib grocery bags (kind of expensive at ~ $85, but nice) for taking groceries; works pretty well, well it will once I get a rack put on my own bike.

I think the Nitto racks look nice; however they're expensive.

There's one I'm interested in checking out at the bottom of:
http://www.tullios.com/Nitto.htm
http://www.on-one.co.uk/index.php?mo...ge&PAGE_id=171
It's a mini-rack, but I think it will hold the bag I want to carry, and probably most anything else I'd want to put on a rack.

On the other end of the price scale, the Pletscher racks:
http://www.amazon.com/Inline-Pletsch.../dp/B000C15M5K
are supposed to be good, and are quite cheap.
