looking for a bag that has a u-lock external pocket/something similar, need help

well ive got a med timbuk2 right now and am about to upgrade, what i really hate about the bags that are around here is that i have to go inside the bag to pull the lock out. im always traveling shorter distances and would like to find a bag that has u-lock pocket or holster outside of the main pocket. any ideas? ive looked around a bit and found Zugster custom bags and such, but is there a bag that is more mass produced that has a nice shoulder strap that i can tighten with one hand (like bailys/chrome) and has the u-lock holder?

thanks for your help

Mod it yourself! Or have a friend do it. $2 and 10 minutes. I'd do it for you if you were in the neighborhood.

I have a better idea.

Get a customized bag from Isaac at Chicago Wig.

Bailey works doesn't say the exterior side pocket on the superpro is a lock pocket anymore, but I've used it for that fairly often, and it's never come close to falling out.
This is with a mini u, though

My XXL Bailey has an outside one, though it falls out depending on how the bag is filled. I can tell right away by how easy it slides into the pocket if its gonna fall out. Sewing a bit of velcro would completely solve the problem but I like to keep things interesting.

You can get a u-lock strap on the PAC Ultimate. I can get the lock out or put it back in without sliding the bag around to the front and both my full size and mini u's fit just fine.

I don't think the Black Bag has a ulock strap. I'm looking at the photos right now, but I don't see one.

Bagaboo.
I was sceptical about the lock holder loop but it's perfect the way it is. Out of the way, doesn't fall out and still pretty easy to get out when needed, without swinging the bag forward or even unbuckling the chest strap. My only complaint is that the lock pushes against my skinny waist when the bag is empty. Oh well.

Photoset

The strap is adjustable and removable. I think any custom bagmaker can make you the same thing if you ask nicely.

i have the MED timbuk2 and i run the two tie down straps through the lock itself. so it makes a little sling for it. thats what the other bikers do around here with timbuk2 and chrome bags.

The Banjo Brothers Commuter Backpack has an external pocket that can hold a mini u-lock.

Is the strap on the black bag big enough for a normal sized D lock?

if you have a timbuk2 or any other back with a loop thing on the back, do this
go to the shop and get a kryptonyte u-lock COMBO with a FRAME MOUNT
loop the frame mount to the little loop on your bag.
now all you have to do is slide it in there and flip the lever.
!!!

It fits fine on the strap, across the chest. The webbing is set up to hold the lock, granted, you lock it into the strap, but as long as you're cool with that, it works great, and theres no chance of it going anywhere because it's 100% secured to the strap, which should be 100% secured to you.

Besides, the black bag is the dopest. Only way I'll now buy a non-seagull bag would be if a close friend started making crucial bags.

your local hardware store should have 1" strapping and buckles. With those, a bit of experimentation, and a thread and needle, you can add a lock holder to any bag.
