properly finishing the ends of cable housing is probably the number one most important and commonly overlooked part of home bicycle maintenance. you don't want to have a sheared housing end work its way through your brake cable, because with brake cables you can easily have a sudden, catastrophic failure. the cable pops, it doesn't grind like derailleur cable.

some housing and cable is teflon coated or permeated and that stuff you don't have to grease. just clean your bike so you minimize the amount of dirt and grime that works its way into the housing.
Well, since I didn't have the right tools, I took the housing and cable to my LBS to get cut for free, I noticed this blue tube inside the housing so I believe that's what prevents the cable from rust. Though I think the guy just cut the cable and housing, but didn't file it, maybe he did, I don't know. When I got back, I took out the metal end cap on the other side and put it on the end of my cut housing, put the cable and installed the line. Since the bottom part near the wheel is fairly exposed I just put some marine grease on to it for water resistance. My bike is now complete. Ill post up pictures later tonight lol, maybe you guys can see if anything is funky.

Got a small kilo question I didn't want to make a new thread for.

Will a one inch threaded fork with a steer tube of 125mm fit my 50cm kilo tt. Found someone selling a chrome fork that came off a bianchi. She wants $50 and I was looking to buy a chrome soma anyway. Can't really identify the brand of the fork the only markings on it is "49". I'm wondering if its worth the 50$ and if it is compatible with my frame

It's probably too short. Measure your head tube length and then add about 30mm to account for the threaded headset stack height and bottom races.

Is there any other place to get these besides BD? Their website says no other shipping options besides ground.

I need one of these asap, specifically by next tuesday.

Decided to get a fixed gear bike a few weeks ago since i'm here in the east coast with no car doing my rotations here. So found this bike off of craigslist and been riding for the past 2-3 weeks. Had to install a front brake to be on the safe side, plus I can't skid yet. I still need to adjust the seat but it's frozen, i'm going to have to get some ammonia to get it off.
And the other thing is whenever i stand up to mash up a hill, my front wheel, fork, or handlebars make squeeking sounds. Might try to disassemble it to check what it is before bringing it to the shop. Other than that, im loving this bike.

It's actually the pearl white, but I was considering the cream as well! If I ever get it powdercoated, I'm going for a less drastic cream like on old-school 50s classic cars.

I have been lurking in this thread for years and during that time acquired a taste for the Kilo TT. I haven't been in the market for another fixed, but came across a once in a lifetime deal for brand new white Velocity Deep V's with matching white hubs so naturally needed to build another bike So I have been searching for a frame set that would go nice with the new wheels including the Kilo but nothing really caught my eye till this morning. Browsing ebay I found Bike Island had some new color Kilo TT's with chrome dipped forks and rear triangle. No questions after that..

So I'm waiting delivery on an orange Kilo TT, after that I can join the cool club here=) look forward to posting some pictures of the build!

I'm having a hard time finding a replacement crankset and bottom bracket for my Kilo TT. I know it uses this bottom bracket which is 108mm:
https://www.benscycle.net/index.php?m...oducts_id=8953

I'm assuming this strange bottom bracket isn't a square taper. What would be a good square taper bottom bracket to replace this with?

Edit: https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Square...604447&sr=1-10

Just found that, would that work?

You are replacing the PowerSpline bottom bracket with a square taper?
I'm sort of confused.

yeah that's what i would be doing so i could use a much wider variety of cranksets.

i guess what i'm saying is would something like this work: https://cgi.ebay.com/TANGE-68-X-107-S...#ht_2172wt_911

It'll work like a charm but you might want to look for a crankset first before buying a bottom bracket.

I have a compatible set picked out already. What tools would I need to remove the old bottom bracket and crankset and install the new square tapered one? I'm assuming I would need an ISIS remover tool and something to install the square tapered bottom bracket. Sorry this part is all new to me.
