Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Depends on how long your torso is too. But anyways, I have a 29.5 in inseam, and I can ride 49 and 50cm bikes w/ only a bit of clearance, but most of the time I'm riding the bike, so it doesn't really matter.

I have about a 28" inseam and had no trouble riding a 47cm Kilo. Sure my gonad satchel sat like a bird on a wire, but who cares?

if you were riding the 44cm would that half inch of extra clearance make that big of a difference?

I like your setup! What kind of grip tape is that?

How are you liking those? Did you have to cut down the leather at all to fit them on those TT bars?

I like them a lot and I prefer the elkhide to leather bartape (toshi or brooks). The leather is smoother and softer than your usual leather bartape but doesn't feel too cushy. I would say it's close to thin cork tape with a leather feel. They come extra long so no worries on coming up short. But you do have to cut them. Fairly easy, just wrap them near the end, then cut to fit.

I made the tops level with my stem. It does look a bit awkward though, I'll lower it a bit.

haha, yeah I only lowered it a LITTLE bit. I like the tops flush or at least level like bullhorns. It also looks weird because of the angle of the camera shot.

I have a bottle cage seatpost adapter. I'm not good enough on the rollers to grab a drink yet

But something's off. In order to pass inspection you need either.

(a) more electrical tape - original branding still visible.
(b) more seatpost
(c) less fork (or less shiney spacers)
(d) a shorter stem

You'll probably have a little time before Thanksgiving to work on some of this. If you put if off until December you'll be stuck studying for finals until the semester's over. Maybe if you bring your bike home for Christmas you'll have some time to work on things. Will it fit in your car? And don't forget your tools!
