Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? DEnver, Co sinlge speed help

Was just looking to see if anyone in Denver could help me find someone to build a custom sinlge speed bicycle. Dont even have a frame. Just trying to get pointed into the right direction. Have money for deposit or full payment if its someone reputable or whatever. I dont even own a set of tools since they were lifted from me. Need my own transportation and dont want to buy a new bike when i could have a more quality machine for the same price.

THanks a lot!!!! CHeers!

Michael L

Take your bike to the Scum of the Earth bicycle garage, and they might help you out doing it yourself. Derailer could also help you out. If you don't want to do it yourself, any bike shop could help you out.

There's a guy named Hardsole5280 on craigslist who also does conversions.

Good idea, went ahead and took that off there. I am looking to spend no more then 500 dollars or so.

Im looking to have someone build it for me even though this site seems to have all i need! If i could watch and learn i would pay for that as well. I work with my hands so i know how it goes with sharing knowlede. But i will def look for hardsole on CL.

Anyother suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THanks again.

$300 to $500 is about the minimum you could spend on a new complete bike. You're talking at least $700 to $1000 if you want to build a better bike from parts (assuming $200 bicycleisland frame). You're doing it wrong.

Oh, it would have been helpful for me to read the OP.
Wow.

There are a multitude of good bike shops in denver. But it might be tricky finding something under $500. You might want to consider looking for a bike and just making it SS/FG, and just about any of the co-op's will do that in denver.

What kind of complete singlespeed/fg were you looking for? Different shops carry different brands.

I was not looking for anything inpaticular or crazy, im not trying to race anyone. Just a reliable point a to point b. I dont think i need to spend 700-1000 bucks for a old steel framed 10 speed converted to a SS.

ANd thanks Brandon, i looked up scum of the earth and Derailer, thinking i will just find either a frame or a complete set up and just get the parts i need and have them show me whats up at derailer. Thanks a lot for the help.
