Raleigh One-Way
Anyone riding the One-Way? Looking at it for a versatile entry into fixed riding. Not all specs on the company website, anyone have the dropout spacing?

rear spacing is 120. frame is similar to the crosscheck in geometry. My friend commutes on one with front panniers.

I know this thread is kinda old, but I'm also wondering some specs on this bike...Like how much does it weigh? Frame sounds decently nice, but no actual specs there except that it's Reynolds 520...

I replaced the stock fenders (they fit better than freddys on my snow bike), saddle, tires & pedals on mine.

The only thing relating to weight I see on there is "14g spokes," maybe I missed it...If you could pinpoint it, I'd be much obliged (and feel silly).

14g is the gauge (thickness) of the spokes, not the weight. i don't think the weight is on that page, but if you call up a local retailer, i'm sure they could put one a scale for you if they have one in stock - or maybe chipcom could.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. Yeah, I looked a while for 'raleigh "one way" weight' etc on the internets, but nothing came up. I was wondering if someone on here might know through personally seeing one weighed.

Nothing scientific, but I lifted one at the LBS the other day and it's not light. It's not as heavy as an average mountain bike, but at least 5lbs heavier than my road bike.

Twenty five pounds sounds about right though it rides much leaner than that since putting on smaller tires. I just picked up a 2007 model which was on sale before the 2008's arrive. I think these will be available at the end of October? I swapped the handlebars for Nitto RB-021 bullhorns which make this a really fun bike to ride. Like Chipcom, I also swapped the fenders for some black Planet Bike freddies. No pictures yet but like how it rides and looks.

Yeah, the 2008 looks really nice. It's pretty much down to the Masi Speciale Commuter and Raleigh One way I think for my next bike. Masi could do an Inter-8 touring conversion easier I think...would have to spread the frame on the Raleigh...but Raleigh's probably a bit cheaper.

Raleigh One Way vs. Bianchi San Jose
Hey,
Seems like this thread is dead (nearly a year old).
I'm considering the Raleigh one way (versus the San Jose). But, I'd like to install a free, 7 gear instead of the single fixed.
Is it possible to do that? With the Raleigh One Way frame allow the additional gears?

1. the rear spacing isn't wide enough to accomodate a multi-speed hub
2. there is no derailleur hanger.
you might be able to stuff an internal geared hub back there though
Or are you asking if you can replace the fixed cog with a single speed freewheel? If so, then yes.
