Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Manchester England ?'s

I am studying abroad at the university of manchester in the fall.

Should I consider finding a bike while I am going to school there?
roads friendly?
anything useful to know?
places to eat, see, ride?
tips?
anyone willing to rent or sell a cheap a beater for fall semester?
and do I have to like soccer while im there?

You have to like football, not soccer, and more specifically manchester city, not manchester united (if you're actually living in manchester that is).

I live about 30 miles north of Manchester.

How tall are you?

Road or MTB. which are you looking for, I have a couple of hack hardtails lying around.

NO fixie though.

Manchester roads friendly? No way, just like every other city.

There's no soccer in Manchester, only football. And please make sure you support Man U, and definately not man city.

you could like football while you're there... or you could be a man and like rugby.

Definitely go and catch one of the Revolutions at Manchester Velodrome. The racing is insane.
