I love the Bianchi Pistas except their unicrown forks... totally kills the vintage look. WHY BIANCHI?!

Unicrown forks have been around longer than threadless stems....

You don't see unicrown forks on high end vintage bikes though. They shouldve went with threaded stem + lugged fork.

I was just thinking this...the Pista is such a nice looking bike and the fork really looks like hell. I ride an old P.O.S. CCM frameset that I got for free.99 that has a nicer looking lugged fork. Kinda sad Bianchi, kinda sad.

its not true "vintage" but here is a case for unicrown (she has a proper record headset now)

despite a record build, i fit her with monoplanars for the appearance. the brake and fork have identical radiuses

My Ironman has a unicrown fork. Ok, so maybe it's not really high end, but it's up there—full 600 (Ultegra). And there are so many low-end bikes with lugged forks. I really don't see it as a reflection of bike's value so much... But then unicrown just doesn't bother me as much as some other people (it's actually a little more practical in my opinion).

I agree that the Pista would look better with a threaded headset and lugged fork, but I also want a fully lugged frame.
Frankly, I don't see what's so retro about the Pista to begin with. What is it, the level top tube? Malarkey. It's got a threadless headset, a welded frame and oversized tubing.

I know a few on this forum have spoken about rear seat stay cracks. With that said I have an 07 Pista (purchased new) that has been ridden for about a 1 year and a half without any issues.

Updated mine a little bit. New chain, new tires, new brake lever, and a new-to-me seat.

And the old pic for reference:

I really wish they'd do another line in battleship grey again... was never so sure about all this chrome nonsense. And whats with the newer pistas being setup for rear brakes?? None of my older pistas are drilled in the rear.

Its the bike that started it all.... for some owners, its just the nostalgia of owning a Bianchi Pista

I love the Pista and the Via Condotti, but to look truly vintage they need a quill stem (IMHO)...

anybody had their steerer threaded? Any reason why it can't be done?

I don't want to buy a Via Brera (the colour!), but I assume the forks are the same except for the top end.

^^^ The Dura Ace crank and the bike deserve a matching Dura Ace chainring, instead of the FSA chainring. Other than that, it looks nice.

The bike has Italian genes... it deserves Campagnolo... not Japanese fishing tackle! At least FSA is Italian.
