Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

What do you do when your Spinergy's Crack?

Turn it into a clock of course!

2 Cracked Spokes :

1 Hacksaw applied to the hub body and spokes:

1 tube of 5-min epoxy used to glue the 4 cut spokes to the 4 good ones. Provides strength and rigidity.

End Result:

The clock parts were about $20, and it took very little time to cut through the hub. Maybe 20 minutes. I filed the hub smooth and flush. Cut the spokes, and epoxied together which make the overall structure pretty strong (not that it needs to be). The cool part is I don't even need 3,6,9,12-hour markers since the Spinergys have 4 spokes . Installed the clock, and drilled a small hole in the rim at 12-o-clock for a nail hole. Going to hang it in my garage tomorrow.

Cheers.

-Jeff
