Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Stuck in Houston.

Sorry for the cross post, but if you're like me and stick to mostly one section of the forum, I figured I might get a little more response.

So I'm stuck in Houston, probably until Tuesday. Anyone wanna show me some decent places to ride? I think I'll go loony if I spend 4 days in this hotel room, but it doesn't look like I'm in the best area to go exploring. I'm up for anything, road ride, park ride, trail ride, light duty off road, pub crawl. I have a bike with me.

Looks like I'm near Jacinto city. East side of Houston where 610 and 10 meet. Of course now when I pull up a map, I see there's what looks like a pretty big park just to the north of me. Any feedback on Herman Brown Park?

The only thing I know of over there is the Dog Park on Federal.

You could tour the Budweiser plant!

Houston's got a lot of riding opportunities. Hit www.ghorba.org, look under trails. Your closest area will probably be Ho Chi Minh trail in Memorial Park. If you can escape the city, head north to Coldspring. Maybe an hours drive. There's a great fast trail there at Double Lake Rec. Area
. Just keep in mind, it's been raining almost every day, so we're pretty muddy right now.
