Mavic Ellipse- Lock Ring And Cog?

i recently purchased a mavic ellipse wheel set.

i know that this has been addressed in the past, but can not seem to find a straight up answer. i have read that plenty of people have stripped their rear hub by using the wrong parts, and would like to do everything possible to avoid this.

so my questions are simple.

1. will using the provided mavic lockring prevent this problem?
2. will a dura ace cog work properly and not cause this problem?
3. will a dura ace cog + mavic lockring work well together and not create this problem? or do i need to invest in a different brand of cog.

thank you in advance.

1. mavic lockrings have their own threading, so yes. also pay attention to what you're doing and use grease to help you remove the cog and lockring in the future. also make sure everything is tight and check both cog and lockring every so often after riding, epecially after you first install everything. if play develops and you don't retighten everything right away, that's a great step toward stripping... but then again, so is taking off your clothes for money. you be the judge on that one, pal.

2/3. a d-a cog will work fine. pretty much any currently produced cog should work. i have an old campy cog and an eai cog on my ellipses.

well alot of the newer sets need a .5 mm spacer because the lock ring will not but up against the cog causing it to to slip all the time if you skid.
I would also find the gearing you love and maybe loc-tite that sucker on with a MILD loc-tite I repeat MILD.
I have had nightmares with my hubs ,but they are fine now but affraid to remove and either of my cogs.

also if you crank to hard on that lock ring you might bend the thin metal that the lockring threads on to compressing it against the bearing cone causing the bearing cone to tighten while you ride so that the hub does not spin freely...big bummer ! happened to me but I am very heavy handed.

so get the .5mm spacer from yourlbs don't use any thing thicker or you won't get enough threads under you lock ring and it will fly off when you skid into a red light also a big bummer.

I had it the worst out of my friend who have them but again I am very heavy handed.

so that my advice from my troubles
but I love the wheel set hop you got the mp3 warranty.

but the seem bullet proof so far I have dropped 3 steps on them and still straight as hell!
