......with my first conversion. Step one was going down in the basement and
drag out that old blue rusty steel frame with the original yellow paint shining
through. Second. Sand it slightly, get it cleaned up and paint it red.



It'll have high flange flip flops with some rim I haven't decided for yet. I have
some nice goodies laying around. CXP 30's, Campa strada, Wolber Ti/Cr./Mag.....

And for the rest of the components? It's all set. I'll keep you posted

judging from the picture, I'm guessing not.

to the OP; if you have overspray on your threads, installing components becomes impossible. at this point, you may need to face and chase your BB shell, head tube, etc.

So you just greased them, and are using the grease as a mask? Just gonna wipe it off with all the paint that hit it? Interesting idea... sounds like it would work.

It shouldn't be a problem, paint won't stick to grease.

It works. Just cleaned it up and no trace of the paint

That's the Kinesis Road-D. Still very much available.
I was thinking of getting a nice steel one, but this is
to be a low cost project.....

This works 100%. I've done this on parts I did not want the paint stick to. used wax as well.

so wait... you painted a fork that you didn't plan on using? I would have knocked off the shifter bosses before painting and applying the stickers, but thats just me... I dont like to gouge my knees on thisng when I'm skidding. Of course I also don't like putting motorcycle stickers on my bicycle.

Dear Fatty...

I used the fork only as a stand for the bike while I was painting it.
And of course I could have grinned/knocked off the shifter bosses,
but this is, and will always be an old crappy frame. What ever i do
with it wont change that fact. It's only meant to be a temporarily one.
And the motorcycle stickers? I believe most people can look at those
as the joke they're meant to be

Anyways. Seems like I'm ditching the frame. To much rust in
the BB area. And. It would always just be a conversion. I'm
kind of primitive there. Need to do it right or not at all
The new one might get a paint-job and new decals.
Havent' decided yet. It's an early 80' track frame/fork.

I'm also getting a straight bladed chrome fork drilled for brakes
so I can run it singlespeed. Yes, I'm a chicken. Could of course
use the Kinesis, but that one would look kinda odd with it's shape
and longer than usual axel to crown.. My friend and neigbour filtersweep
says I'll never use it single, just fixed. Well see......I'm quit new to this
