aero seatposts on fixies???
i saw some guy on a fixie today with an aero carbon seatpost, like the ones on time trial or a sprinters bikes. whats the deal with that? not sure if i thought it looked cool or not.

I bet he liked it and decided to buy it. If not, I have no idea how it would have gotten on his bike.
|
If it is used on a track it makes some sense. That said, half the stuff people put on fixed gear bicycles doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I can't see why seatposts should be any exception.

Maybe he was a time trialist or a sprinter out for a ride on his racing bike.

Anyways, the rails should be the right size. Just avoid ones made with an integral clamp designed for pipe-style seatposts! |

They're excellent for track cycling where you want the stiffest stuff possible (there are no bumps on the track), which is why you can buy NJS Kashimax saddles.

I saw a guy with TT base bars w/clip ons( like one uses on a TT or Triathlon bike) spinning his brains out(fixed) down a 6.3 mile descent. I've never seen that before, but I'm pretty sheltered when it comes to fixed-gear bikes. Is it common to run full TT bars on FG bikes? |
I do TT's fixed, so I sometimes have aerobars on there.

Something sorta like this? http://velospace.org/files/DSC_2621.jpg

It sounds like he was talking about something more like this:
http://togoparts.com/bikeprofile/images/full/143.jpg http://www.bikes-dolan.uk.com/media/...-Seat-Post.gif I have one of those campy aero seatposts on my '86 road bike. If someone wants to give me another, I can pay about $10 for it, if that :( :D |
estratton:) ^ That is perfect.

Chuck's has a few of these in stock, I believe. I think they look like sails.
Campy Aero; however, pure class. |
Hey guys, lets turn this into a "post your aero seatpost" thread
My turn: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...h/100_0937.jpg edit: Disregard the crappy plastic clips please, its an old picture. That rear rim recently got cracked by a pothole on Meeting St. (Charleston) too. :( |
