Another question for LA Fixed Gear riders

What do you think of this route, by bike, from downtown LA to Culver City? Is there a better way? I ask mainly in the context of the friendliness (or unfriendliness) of autos along the way. Thanks!

    Distance: 9.5 miles

1 Start in 333 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90071 going towards W 4th St 2.2 mi
2 Turn Right on W Adams Blvd 5.6 mi
3 Turn Left on Washington Blvd 0.9 mi
4 Take Right towards Exposition Blvd 0.2 mi
5 Turn Left on Venice Blvd 0.0 mi
6 Turn Right on S Robertson Blvd 0.0 mi
7 Turn Left on Venice Blvd 0.5 mi
8 Turn Right on Watseka Ave 0.1 mi

i think you can just take fig to venice and shoot west. hoover also connects to venice and has a bike lane.
sounds like you're coming from usc area, in which case i'd try straight up hoover to venice. to Culver City should take maybe 30 minutes or less.

just avoid throwing gang signs, innocently asking young adults what set they roll with, flatting, slowing or stopping....
just kidding, in daylight it's fine.....

You can try asking the lafixed.com crowd. I think there's a group that does a Culver City to Little Tokyo (sorta Downtown) ride for ramen on Fridays.

Venice is alright, I prefer Olympic or Pico though. A lot of drivers treat Venice like a highway, and there are often delivery trucks in the bike lanes. It also gets a lot of highway on and offramps where nobody is ever looking for a dude (or chick) on a bike. Timewise, they're all about the same.

I agree. All pretty similar routes, but I agree with avian on skipping venice. olympic/pico is great, especially if they make them one way as proposed earlier this year! $%^ yeah on (slightly) less traffic!
