Worst Brooks Swift... EVER. + photos

Okay... So I accidentally won a Swift on ebay. I had just received a bonus pay check for some free lance work, was checking out bike components on ebay, came accross a Swift, casually entered my max bid, and then I went out of town and won the auction.

The saddle was listed as "new Brooks Swift Ti saddle, simply mounted and ridden for a short ride" and the photos presented a clean, unscathed saddle. However, upon arrival I noticed some peculiar things. The bolt was way overtightened and the leather was pulling off the rivets. Have a look and see if there's anything else that's screwed up with this "new" saddle.

The ebay merchant has yet to respond to my complaint....
Oh ebay.... Sometimes I don't think I could get a better burn riding fixed, on the street, with a 110" gear.

PHOTO 0: Looks nice, eh?

PHOTO 1: The nut and bolt... Doesn't that nut look like it's been cranked pretty far for a brooks that has only been taken on a "short ride"? The leather was probably mistreated with something like oil! Or maybe urine.

PHOTO 2: The "Brooks" signature on the back looks unoriginal. Yes no?

PHOTO 3: Overtightening... This is the back, left, underside. There is pretty large gap between the leather and the titanium.

PHOTO 4: Shouldn't there be a number branded in the center, underside of the saddle(white arrow)?

PHOTO 5:

PHOTO 6: They can't do it for the kids. seperation

PHOTO 7: Shouldn't the rail say Titanium? As it is the Swift Ti?
Another crappy rivet shot and the underside gap between leather and titanium, yet again.

I appreciate the help. As I said, wining the auction was entirely unintentional and now entirely unfortunate. I want to make the most of this .

how was it entirely unintentional if you entered your max bid knowing you were bidding on it even if you didnt "expect" to win it?

what's that bump on the top right of the seat in the first pic?

you're going to ride it right?
just give it a few miles, everything will settle into place and everything will be ok.

No stamp / branding

Stamped / Branded

Another Brooks with the different tag

Gently used, has the "gap

But I think you're correct with the over-softening, that bolts been extended.

nothing wrong with that saddle. quit nitpicking, stick it on your bike, and stop thinking about it

i had been awake for 48hrs, was trying an "auction sniper" website for the first time, and did not think the max bid/snipe actually processed. it was not listed in the snipes folder, so after a few double checks i let it go. then i left town and it slipped my mind. on my end, the snipe did not register so it was not a cause for concern.

He's one of those people who can't keep themselves from running the price up for the serious buyers.

Being a well informed buyer can work wonders.

I've bid & bin'd lots of stuff, from batteries to bibs and have only felt let down once (and on a $10 item).

Not for nothing, but...doesn't the picture on ebay show the saddle bolt tightened up?
