post your crazy lockup pics

I always enjoy seeing bikes locked up in a ridiculous anti-theft fashion. how do you lock up to the top of a signpost?

pitboss 08-05-07 08:46 AM

Terror in Pink used to post pics of terrible lock-up jobs on her blog

You never seen the movie? He's locking his bike TO the clown. Its not a live clown.
And for the record, Pee Wee kun's bike still got stolen. :)

I love seeing decent bikes locked up by just the front wheel and they have a quick release, going into the building, coming back out and there just being a front wheel locked up.

Im pretty sure with that flimsy lock it doesnt even matter how you lock it up.

Yeah, at least you couldn't just ride off with it.. unless you have a pair of scissors.

Or if you can lift a bike 2ft.

hockeyteeth 08-05-07 09:56 PM

Looks pretty secure to me. I bet that string holding the kickstand to the chainstay is a boobytrap of some sort.

VAwitt 08-05-07 09:56 PM

i didnt know that being able to lift a bike 2 feet automatically deletes the cable preventing the rear wheel from making full rotations, neat trick though

~Stuart~ 08-05-07 09:59 PM

is it just me or would you not have trouble riding a bike that has a lock through the frame and rear wheel... i can totally see picking it up and running... but not riding :P

guy above beat me to it

but i saw 2 decent road bikes (ok not amazing, but atleast 1-2k) locked to each other outside of my work... whats the bike jacker gonna be like "aw ****, well i was only gonna steal the red one, but now its locked to the blue one too? damn i guess i'll have to take them both..."

jakbikesdc 08-05-07 10:31 PM

we do that alot down here. We all ride to the cafe and all lock up in a big chain of bikes. like my bike was locked to another which was locked to a tandem which was locked to two other bikes.

But the only time bikes around here get stolen is if you leave them with no lock. Even a cheap coil lock is enough to deter thieves around here. People love their vehicles too much to go for a bike.

Frame over shoulder = instant get away. I carry my bike like that all the time.

Why does a post about pictures have so many words in it?

Boggles the mind.
