NJS Frame question

Hello all, I am new here so please be kind. :-) (If you want)

(rePosted from_track forums. )

I just got the same frame I used to, a '00 Presto NJS Keirin frame but these dropouts are different...8mm axle, or 9 (Like front hub) but squared axle. NJS hubs are all 10mm axle so I'm like :| ...Pissed off?

I took my Promax SB Suzue hub, all night and filed down so it fits but without any spacers it barely houses the 113mm spacing...

And I know it's NJS frame, but why no Stamp? Alot of skepticizism...

Help anyone? I want to get Her on the road soon.

Hope I get some replies, I never used this site.

Thanks!

some keirin frames still use the older style rear-hub spacing
of 110mm (the frame itself is usually spaced 113mm to fit in
chain tensioners). in the case of 110mm spaced keirin hubs
the axle is flattened to 8mm.

you can still find 110mm dura ace hubs (njs certified) as well
as axle conversion kits ...that is, you can find them in japan.
sometimes they pop up on ebay or get in touch with stratton
at keirin culture.

not sure why the frame doesn't have an njs stamp. possibly if
it was built for the overseas market or as a custom order they
didn't bother with njs certification.

many famous "njs" builders make many non njs frames. kalavinka's street tracker is not NJS. This doesnt mean it is not made to the same high standards, it just isn't race approved. although its weird that its 110 spaced and no badge.

also gran compe makes a beautiful 110mm hub that is awesome.

Right. Tomity says 20% of Keirin racers still go for 110 spacing. Some makers like to still use this spec.
I have some 110 njs hubs if anyone needs some.
If it has no stamp it is not a njs keirin frame. Like someone said it has nothing to do with the quality, most likely, just the frame was not made for Keirin in Japan, so was not stamped. It might be exactly the same in every other way to a Keirin frame of course.
