I converted my road bike to a fixed gear recently and have a flip flop hub for the rear. Someone pointed out to me that I have the gear on the 'freewheel' side and not on the fixed side. I was always under the impression that the fixed side was the side with 2 steps of threading (a larger circumference at the base and a smaller one further away) and you hold the cog in place with a lockring that has reverse threading, but apparently this is the freewheel side? The other side of my hub has 1 set of threading and when the cog goes on, the lockring screws on clockwise and there isn't much threading for it to hold on to. If that IS the right side, is it really necessary to have to use lock-tite? and if so does it remove easily when something needs to be changed?
