New SingleSpeed Setup HELP

I just got a new standard Shimano hub and want to convert it to single speed.

I know i need a cog and spacers, for which I can use PVC pipe.

What about a lockring? Are they neccessary?

Basically, a little help as to what I need what be great.

Thanks.

Use the end of the cassette to hold the PVC together.

What you are doing is perfectly fine, and will work well...But if you are starting with a brand new hub, why not just use the tried and true forumula flip/flop?
