Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bike Ride through Portland and then Beer (Pics!)

I had a pleasant ride today and then got drunk at a friend's house. Riding home in the dark was sketchy but rewarding.

Where I roll.

Eastside Esplande of the Willamette River

Looking the other direction

US Bancorp Tower. There is a nice restaurant on the 33rd Floor called the Portland City Grill.

Looking North

I proposed to my fiance here last Friday.

I love the Steel Bridge. This is from the West Side of the river.

Another perspective.

Mechanical artifact.

Posing at my friend's house. We are loading up on microbrews in the background.

Perhaps it's the paranoiac in me, but I see the lock you have attached to your bike and my first thought is, "That ****'s getting stolen!"

I don't really lock it up. It's for going to get take out or running into a 7-11, etc.

Looks sweet, though why was riding back home at night sketchy? My favorite times to ride in this town are usually after 11 or so.

Riding anywhere at night while drunk is sketchy. And not really recommended. Glad you had fun though.

Bump, that lock would last about 45 seconds for anyone willing to get a nice new pista.

I think I'm more scared of the perverts hanging around the porno store in Chinatown. ...my pop's office used to be right next to the Chinese Garden, so I used to be around there a bit. Never had any trouble with the bums...but the perverts, they're another breed. The CHUDs are bad, too...

What's the name of that crazy drag-show joint down in that district? Nice enough people, but scary at night.

Let's continue to dwell on the least significant thing in the thread. I don't lock my bike for more than 10 minutes, and even then, it's in plain sight.

Sweet pics. Congrats on the proposal -- assuming she said yes -- which I assume because the caption wasn't "where I dumped the body of the girl who said no".
