it's our "drinking helmet" lol once someone falls in our apt. they have to put the helmet on if they want to keep drinking lol

I don't take myself very seriously for most parts of my life (such as this). The only exception is when it comes to work or school. I think that as long as I can laugh at myself and not take myself to seriously I will live healthy and active for a long time. I'd say it's unsafe. Cutting big chunks out of a helmet is generally discouraged...but I'd say that you have different concerns than personal safety.
Maybe you could pick up some side-money doing freelance street-sweeping.
