that's gotta be headed to a pawn shop. there's no other place they'd be dumb enough to try to dump it off. report it stolen b/c cops and pawn shops have this archaic routine where they do actually check for stolen items at each shop.

Thanks for keeping an eye out though.

The more people that know, the more likely it is to be recovered.

We have had a decent rate of recovery for stolen bikes in the DC area.

With the help of police, there has even been stolen bikes recovered from Ebay.

We have a few strange CL postings that are being inquired.

Romel is riding around the city today looking for it and handing out flyers.

It was probably stolen after Sunday, right? I remember seeing that bike up at Adams Morgan Day then. But I too will keep an eye out. At least it's extremely recognizable.

Thanks for checking guys, it was nice to meet a bunch of other riders yesterday, wish it was under better circumstances. Yeah, it was stolen on Wednesday night. Adams Morgan Day was a fun thing to ride to.

Anyway, pawn shops came up empty but I live close to the ones on 14th so I'll drop by there every few days, probably jumped the gun by going so soon. Outside of the shops, some messengers said thieves sometimes try sell them stolen bikes at Farragut in the mornings and to check on the Ust flea market too. No chance to spy on the Farragut sales though, I'm frustrated and in a cube by 9am.

They said between 9-10am at the park between 17th and Kst NW. They made it sound like its usually just a one or two bike deal every few days though kinda random.

I posted a flyer at DCSnacks with contact info for you, Romel and police along with case number. Maybe we'll spy it late at night while making a delivery since they may feel more at ease to have it out after they THINK everyone is asleep. We're open to 4am and cover a LARGE delivery area.

Had a bike stolen, mine was one of 20 from my building in Arlington. Thought about flea markets-could you tell me about the U St flea market?

I thought about checking the flea markets at Court House in Arlington and Georgetown after a bike shop said some stolen bikes were being fenced at flea markets. Are there many bikes sold at flea markets? Which ones are most likely?

It won't be on the floor of the pawn shop (if the shop is on the up and up) for a month. Most cities have regulations that pawn shops must hold all goods for a month for the cops to look for them before being sold. Also, if you do find it at a pawn shop you'll most likely have to pay the pawnbroker what he paid the thief in order to get your bike back.
