Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

toporoute says Canton Ave is only 4%. Only off by 33%.
mapmyride says Canton Ave is 29%, but then again it was averaged over the whole length.

Yeah, I've always wondered how accurate it is, and what source they use for basis. The readout has almost no reference markings, which make the whole thing a crapshoot.

I'd like to find a mapping tool that takes vertical elevation into account when computing mileage. I have 4 pretty decent hills on my every-day commute, and I'm sure that they add a significant amount. (Sure I could figure it out myself...but I've lost my protractor.)

I've been to the New Zealand street! Nearly got vertigo looking down it....

If anyone gets the chance to check it out, do it! Dunedin, the town it's in, is one of the world's finest!!

Is he? I know of a couple other PGH guys who were cabbies for awhile, one of which kinda looks like Steevo but now sells houses.

I think that's Justin, his brother, who is in the real estate game. I heard Steevo bought a house in the ghetto for like $15k and is fixing it up, though. I haven't talked to the guy in years, this comes through a distant cousin of his who is a good friend of mine.

Regardless, Steevo is a badass rider, I'm sure he conquered that hill like it was nothing.

****, I had no idea Justin was his brother. No wonder there's such a close resemblance... I wasn't good friends with Steevo, just rode with him at the Highland Park oval a couple times. He kicked everyone but Ted's ass.

Steevo was working as messenger, then got hit by a brick while making a delivery and got on workman's comp, and as such was able to train as a full time job for a while....so if you thought he was inhuman before, you should see him now.

Read about all things Steevo at https://thesteevo.blogspot.com/.
