First longish commute, and first fall on new bike
Did a 13 mile commute from my parents house in Virginia to DC this morning, went pretty well besides one near bad spill as I was coming down a rather steep hill, I covered the brake but not quickly enough and hit a big bump at the bottom, it kicked me off the bike a bit and slowed my pedaling drastically and nearly caused me to go down. The fall came when I pulled up to an intersection and my straps were a bit too tight, I balanced it for awhile but then fell right over.
Oh well, all in all it was a nice ride, temp was 71-72, and it was overcast so

0 mph falls are part of life. Everybody has those, and the people who don't... well, **** them.

Nice.. I've always commuted using my road bike, but started using my fixed recently. I was surprised that the 10 miles seems to actually be easier fixed. Odd, I thought..
I've fallen at 0mph too; not recently, but I did it last year because my foot wouldn't unclip... which is strange because I had 4-5k miles on those spd pedals at the time..

0mph falls are better than sliding down asphalt on a nice slick path of garbage oil left over from a trash truck.

How's the bike? You didn't scratch it in the fall, did you?

Naw, the bike is fine, my ego was a bit hurt. I fell at Key Bridge and M st in DC, which is the entrance to Georgetown. There were a nice 100 cars with a view of me toppleing over.

i had a sweet standing fall the other day, in my apartment parkinglot of all places. this new girl moving in had come by to ask her new neighbors how loud the trains are at night (my room is about 40 yards from the train tracks, and it's pretty loud at first), so i pulled up next to her and was track standing next to her car as she was sitting in it. mid sentence i lose my balance and don't unclip fast enough and fall right on my side in front of her. i'm sure the confused look on my face was priceless as i went down.
but i still got her number!
