Aero rim choices
So I'm building up a fresh wheel set here soon and I'd prefer to build it with tall or fairly tall aero rims. I'd also, however, prefer not to get deep vs. I'm just trying to figure out what other options there are. Aeros look good, but I can only get them in limited quantities. Are Mavic CXP's pretty nice? I assume that most mavic rims are...

I swear by Mavic CXP33s....very high quality rims that always result in a nice perfectly round and true wheel with even spoke tension, but they are not really very aero.
How about this...

This is about the lightest aero aluminum rim you can get.
I have a set of these on my roadbike and they built up quite nicely too. They have a good rep in the roadie forum.

Alex DA28 - 27mm profile
Campy Eurus - 30mm
Some other rims that might be hard to find.
Mavic CXP14
Mavic CXP10
Gippieme Tecno 416
Anything with a higher section than 30mm is going to weigh more than supertanker without going carbon. If you are going carbon, there are a LOT of options.
P.S THose niobiums are 30mm - same as deep v.

Crap, I forgot to mention that I need them to be 32h and clincher. I'm already running a CXP30 on the front right now, which would be fine for track days, but it scares me to ride on the street (I've only got money one wheelset for experimenting with on my limited track days and riding the streets with.

Sorry, I failed.
Ones i've listed are all available 32h/clincher, with the exception of the eurus.

I'd sell all your Deep V's and just go with the DT RR 1.2's. These are beautifully made, with a substantial braking surface, a sophisticated extrusion that supports the spoke nipple well without wasting weight elsewhere, and they are super flat and round. DT's are welded rather than pinned, which I don't care about as long as the pinning is accurate, but many Velocity rims aren't pinned all that well. The DT is a beautifully done rim and just outperforms virtually any other deep-section alloy rim. The CXP33 isn't bad and is pretty bulletproof. The Open Pro isn't as durable or rigid but still does pretty well. And there have been intermittent problems with the square-section DT clincher rims. But the deep-section DT is a wheelbuilder's dream. Highly recommended.

The DT RR 1.2s are also one of the cheaper options of the bunch. But, then again, they don't come in sperm.

Yep, dt swiss claimed weight of 585g. Deep v's actual 32h weight of 539g. I imagine the real weight of the dt swiss is higher - the price is also comparable to the deep v's.
I guess you missed the part where he said clicnher.

Its spelled Niobium..its a proprietary alloy (containing niobium of course) thats supposed to be very light and strong. All I know is my Niobium 30s cost about the same as deepvs and are as deep as deepVs but they are a lot lighter.
I think they come from Asia (probably Tiawan) and there are several people who sell them or build with them. However, the main person who seems to use them is Mike Garcia, a builder who has a very good reputation on the roadie forum. Thats where I got mine. You'll find info about the rim on his website or you can call up Mike Garcia and ask him.

I guarantee you he'll talk you ear off telling you more than you need or want to know, and even give you some really solid advice about how many spokes you need etc.

ugh... i wish they'd do it up in a 32 spoked rim! and is regular old silver too much to ask for? oh well, those look like all the advantages of deep v's (stiff and bombproof) with none of the disadvantages (noticeable heavier than even crappy stock rims). the niobium 19's could be a worth investment too thogh...

oh, it's not that. it's that eventually i'd like to relace my 32h formulas to something else and those niobiums look like a great canidate for a future wheelbuild.

You won't need eyelets with semi-aero -> super aero rims.
Excuse me? Does garbage from your username never end? Niobium is an element. It's not proprietary (how the F can an element be proprietary) and it's not an alloy. The _material_ used in that rim claims to be an alloy of niobium and aluminum with marketing filler for it's supposed benefits and how they're the only ones to use this material.
Speedcific niobium 30 aero RIM.

Yeah, I learned that in 5th grade. Go read my post again, but thanks for clarifying what we already knew. BTW, you should have your bloodpressure checked.
