407 Fixed Gear...

Just some spammage about a new project starting up for the bike headz in the Orlando area..

https://407fixedgear.blogspot.com/

If you live in the Orlando / Central Florida area, check it out as this project was created to facilitate communication for 407 group rides.. It's main mission is to provide a platform for communication between all the different groups that make up the bike scene here in Orlando... We will be posting all kinds of bike related information / up coming events so check it on the daily.

i remember hearing about that bike a little bit ago. I dig the idea and I think I know what market they're going to go for, but what would suprise me is if they release it with room for fenders, maybe even a place to attach a rack and panniers.

i dislike orlando. it's flat, hot, sandy and humid all the time and everything's a long ass ways away from everything else.

trial by fire, sure, but i would hate biking there.

LOL no doubt man! For a city that bases so much of their economy on tourism, you would laugh at how people treat each other around here.. Especially painful is the manner in which drivers interact with pedestrians and bicycles.. Truly amazing stuff at times.. It's funny because I'm originally from the DC area and IMO, this place is much more hazardous than B-more /DC...

While the scenery is pretty bleak at times, there are a lot of cool peeps here that make up for the crap.. Tight little bike scene developing of late so there is hope..

Honestly, that's all it takes to get an idea of how bad this place can be at times.. In all fairness though, this place is not nearly as bad as other places I've lived in. In fact, I sort or prefer it in many respects to the DC / B-more area (thus the reason I've lived here for a while). While it has its drawbacks, there are other things that make it a nice place to live. For instance, one of the things I like about Orlando is the weather. Riding here during winter (or lack there of) is amazing and evening rides during the summer just plain rule.. Not to mention if you live close to downtown, biking is the best way to get around the downtown and surrounding suburb areas..

FYI, the blog can now be accessed via www.407fixedgear.com

BTW, we truly appreciate all the support and comments thus far.. Thanks again!
