Anyone interested in a Portland Cyclewear Messenger 3/4 Pant Group Buy
I've been wanting to get a couple pair of these, but I can't bear to spend $72, when I could get them for $40. Have to order 12+ pair to get that pricing though. And so I invoke the power of the Group Buy. They look pretty sweet:

Didnt someone just try to get a group buy for these recently and the company said that they would not help in organizing it?

whoever organizes it just has to organize the shipping too.
I'd be in for a wool jersey group buy.

I was part of a Portland Cyclewear 3/4 pants group buy and it took them months to finish our order. I had completely forgotten I had ordered the pants at all until my friend organizing the thing told me the pants had come in.
They are pretty nice though, once you cut the stupid liner out.

i'm totally looking forward to/ hoping for the warm swerve knickers for my birthday in just over a month... i wish it would come earlier it's getting chilly here!
i wonder how warm the portland ones are? anyone know?
they do look sharp though, also i'm a 28 waist... *edit* called, the girl ones are cut differently - which is just my luck... but i'm told the 30 MIGHT fit.. -
where's the group buy happening

Count me in for the pants. They look/sound great.
PS: I could do the wool jersey buy too if the price was right.

i'm just going to go ahead and tell everyone that i really like these pants.
i cut out the liner with the chammois, and have been much happier with the pant.
it's nicely stretchy and dries quickly. super comfortable, with convenient pockets. the only problem is that the left leg caught on the braze on on my IRO a number of times during the damn Departed Race in boston, and now i've got a big hole near the seam in my left leg, at the knee. alas. that's got nothing to do with the pants, though.
love 'em... wear them all the damn time.

After reading email transcripts with the Portland Cyclewear guy, I have no interest in anything they make:
See https://bikeportland.org/forum/archiv...php/t-910.html.
Hi Chad,
What can you tell me about the factory that producers the jersey's? I see that they're made in China and this is cause for some concern related to labor issues, workers rights, and safe/humane working conditions.
If you can tell me where exactly the jersey's are made, that will help me a great deal with my decision.
Thanks,
Andy
I actually keep a butch of china men in base basement doing the work. Not to worry, they get three squares a day.
Good luck with your.... ah.... pursuit. Not tell-un

Not this again...
The quote is out of context, he was telling off someone he thought was trying to scoop his supplier.
Look, the guy is kind of sarcastic and not very PC. Portland is full of people who are painfully earnest and too leftie to function (and I say that as a life-long liberal Democrat). Add the two together and you get an internet poo storm.

Plus, the FGG group buy took forever and the guy who dealt with the co. described it as an 'absolutely horrid experience'. (the FGG thread). Forewarned is forearmed, yeah?
