Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Anyone try reflective tape on your frame for night riding? Thinking about it.

there's a reflective rustoleum spray i've seen and thought about, but i don't think it is as reflective as scotchlite material. that would be cool though, a large-flake silver that lit up like scotchlite... sounds funkyfresh.

I remember seeing some really cool black reflective tape that turned gold in the light in some other thread. Anyone know what I'm talking about/where I can get some?

I remember seeing a picture of a bike with a reflective rim. Looked pretty neat.

The kind I bought sucks. After 5 coats still barely any reflection.

well anything really... just any bike logo or made-up logo in reflective. not necessarily the same as the original logos.

not meaning to hijack, but i think reflective logos would look pretty cool, and wouldn't be overwhelming. pyze- that sucks, it would have been a cool idea.

buy a vinyl cutter...(i have a 32" roland. awesome) create vector art...buy reflective vinyl (my fav lately is nypd issue blue, but it comes in a full spectrum of colors plus a full pantone swatch even the color change stuff)...cut desired logo, design, pattern...apply to frame...take to local auto body shop and have em throw a cold clearcoat on that *****. nice.

or just get the stuff cut at a sign shop and clearcoat it yourself...

yeah, uhh... i'd rather have a new frame than a vinyl cutter, and i have slightly less use for the frame. you're saying like 700 in start up costs.

but sign shops are a good idea.

if i did get one made i'd either want it ridiculously tech and stylin(like some mad illustrator skill) or some ridiculously trick vinyl, such as reflective or glow, chrome at the very least.

Vector graphics + vinyl cutter...

This stuff is thick though so not sure how well small details would cut out. Used my wife's vinyl cutter which she uses for scrap booking.

anyone used the EVLS velocity rims? I just replaced my front rim after I managed to land on it in a fall, and considered it, but wanted the machined so I could run a brake, may consider it when I replace my real wheel to matching deep vee ness
