The past year or so I've boughten a few bikes off Craigslist. I got two from a guy in Bellevue, fixed one up and eventually sold it. The plan was to get a nice frame and start building, but lately I've been getting restless. I was dreaming about my old bike when I suddenly awoke. "Oh ****, There's a bike in my garage" The other bike, a Cambridge Sprint, which was meant for my girlfriend- never got any love (the bike ). She's since moved out, so I guess it's mine. Right?

Anyway, It looks like it has some potential. Just wondering if anyone's heard of them before. It has 'extra' break levers, suicide shifters right behind the head and too many reflectors.. ( I will take some pictures )

Oh, If I wanted to make it a single speed, would I just get a different hub?

Check the Vintage forums and post some pics to help identify it. I'm guessing it's not a super thoroughbred frame though.

unless the current hub is in bad shape, there's no need to get a new hub to make that bike single speed.

if you have a bike co-op nearby, or some friends with proper tools, you can remove the freewheel (if it's a threaded hub) and simply buy a $20 single-speed freewheel, grease it, and screw it on.

use a chain break tool to shorten the chain you have, maybe lube it up, and you're golden.

make sure you save all the old parts you remove. they can come in handy someday.

on some of those old brake setups with the "turkey levers" it's possible to remove them. they're not useful for braking purposes. if you're handy with a screwdriver, don't be afraid to take it apart and check it out.

I went to the Schwinn shop and decided to get something else.. This Specialized roadie. Anyway, the bikes geometry wasn't right for me. I'm gonna take it to Evergreen- maybe someone wants it.. Thanks for the suggestions.
