can an old fuji take 700c wheels?? and campy cranks?

My friend just gave me a mid 80's fuji. Not sure what model, cause he painted the frame (i'm going to strip it and do it right). It has 27" in wheels on it, but I want to run 700c's. Can i just throw some 700s on there? Also I just bought a set of campangolo record cranks for my other bike. Will these work with the fuji? will i need an english or italian thread BB?

As a side note. I'm riding a SR College Sport. Anyone know this make? No one seems to have any idea who the manufactorer is. some say sears roebuck

yeah, 700s will work, and yes the campy cranks will work and english is the threadz you need. Then, before you ask anymore questions, read sheldonbrown.com's fixed gear articles. Goodluck.

someone was telling me their conversion was an sr frame, but have no clue about those bike.

ok great...thanks. Do you have any idea of how I can figure out what model of fuji it is?

It won't work. Might as well pack it all up and send it to me. I'll PM you my address.

go to your lbs and ask them. probably your best bet. and if they dont know you can throw on a 700 that they have laying around to test it.

Brake reach may be an issue.

With the originals, I doubt it.

Nah, shouldn't matter. Speaking from experience, I have a 27" Fuji Palisade that I converted to 700c and I had no problems with brake reach at all.

As for which model the OP has, it's probably going to be impossible to tell unless you can get to the original paint. I'm fairly certain that they all used the same frames and forks, and the main difference between models were the equipment specs. Old Fujis are probably the nicest of the bike-boom frames, in my opinion. I love them, and I when I see my old bike being ridden around town, I kind of long for it back.

thanks guys. I started stripping the paint and found the model underneath. It's a Fuji Sagres

SR is probably Sakae Ringyo. "Free Spirit" was the Sears store brand.

i own a fuji sagres fixed gear conversion and i absolutely love it. yes it takes 700c wheelsets, and i didnt have to buy a long reach brake, the original reached perfectly.
