Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Coloured track bars

Does anyone know where I can get an orange track bar? I can only seem to find chrome or black from North America suppliers, but I do not want to have to order from Japan.

I do not want to tape the bar at all. I may put track grips on the drops but that is it. I know they are out there I just don't know where in North America to get them.

addendum: is this in someway linked to the orange track frame post? Because the coincidence is striking.

^^^^ The only from the factory orange bar I know of, the Easton EC90 SLX all carbon road bar. It's not quite as red as it looks in the pic, it's a very nice reddish orange. They weigh less than a fart and cost more than a divorce. Probably not what you want, though.

You can get bars powder coated anywhere, I'd guess about $20-30. Very cheap part to do, no stripping, no threads, just a little masking in the clamp area.

Not linked to the orange track frame post at all. Orange is the new pink, or green, or what ever the last trendy colour was. I will try to spray paint some on my own and if that does not go well I may get them powder coated, at least this way I can get the exact colour I want.

Check out No Brakes in Atlanta. They've ordered some of the anodized nitto stuff though I think they're sold out.

There is a guy they work with, Bobby Costello, who paints bars. Haven't seen them in person, but they look nice on the site. I've seen some of Bobby's other work and it's good.

The ones in Japan are just powder coated. Nitto do not make painted drops. I am not sure who does them, maybe Depot cycle/recycle.....kalavinka...the volume they show up in on yahoo auc etc, indicates that whoever is doing them is getting pretty big batches done, stems, bars, posts...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I do not have a preference for anno or painted, I just want it to be the orange that I want. I will let you know what I end up with.
