just take some steroids and you'll be skidding in no time.
if you stick the needle in your butt it works best.

Ovaries to stem for girls.
All you have to do is take all the weight off the back wheel and lock up your legs so your stronger leg is pushing back and your weaker leg is kind of pulling up.
Try it on grass or a slick surface to begin with to get the motion down.

this is the type of situation where my advice is typically "take your dick out of your purse."
but we've never met and that's rude. i couldn't skid for a while, then i got clips 'n straps. if you haven't made it that far yet, please do. if you have, then take your dick outta your purse and skid.

Step 1. Internet
Step 2. Visualize
Step 3. Pie Chart
Step 4. Leg over step though no handed blindfolded flaming sword backwards wheelie skid.
Took me about 30 seconds.

just try riding around the parking lot for a while with your unit on the stem, if you have a short stem/narrow drops, it aint that easy. once you get comfy with your balance in that position, lock em up! and commit.

For me, the key was to lift with the front foot,.... at first I was mainly pushing down with the other cause it seemed like the best resistance and idea to start a skid.... once I realized lifting up unweighted the wheel to start the skid, it got really easy.... and I don't lean over the handlebars either.

The following are required:
bandanna
top tube pad
mess bag
churlish attitude towards your fellow citizens
And then you can skid all the way to next Tuesday.
Or I could not be an ass. Push your weight forward over the front wheel when you try it, something like your shoulders over the hub, and just commit. The commitment is a fairly large part of it. For me, I rode around in a parking lot with Atmosphere blasting out of ****ty speakers for about three hours until I got it down. I recommend, but YMMV.

It's more technique than strength, IMO. Go ride in the rain and practice on the wet pavement. Once you get the hang of the technique it's less difficult than you think.

i put holes in my tires all the way around and fill them with vaseline then put the tube in.
skid city
honestly though, strongest foot pulling up weakest foot pushing down, it helps if you're cranks are horizontal to the ground, also your gearing has a lot to do with it, i can skid sitting down on most any pavement with a 45/16, couple weeks ago i was at 50/16 and it wasn't nearly as easy- keep your skid patches in mind.
my best guess however is that if you're asking you're riding a stock bike so, you've probably got the right ratio just gotta put your mind in the right place..
something to keep in mind though is when you're googling 'skiddddzzzzz!!!' you're probably comming up with competitions which will give you a starting point but will teach you a very wasteful skid that wont help you out much except to impress your friends
LAST bit of advice... if for some reason you still can't do it what may help is popping your wheel into a locked position. what i mean by this is when you're gettin ready to skid hop the back end of yoru bike by pulling up on both clips when your cranks are horizontal and try with all your might to hold that in place. hopefully when you're comming down you're moving fast enough to keep the wheel locked.
good luck ***** tonk.

I first learned on a particularly rainy/snowy day, in a slick parking lot. It's way easier once you figure out what it feels like. Do it first with poor traction, and it'll come naturally.

Try sidewalks, they're a bit smoother, or those slick parking lot surfaces. Gain up your speed, lean forward (crotch on stem), extend one of your legs back and push on it, and let the front leg pull up (you must have toe clips and straps). Watch those skid patches too, right now I'm on 48/16 and I only get one skid patch, so I'm switching the cog to a 17t.

When I first got my fixed gear bike, I wondered how they did it, too. You gotta get over the initial fear, then lean forward as others say and put your nuts in the stem area and use your dominate leg and lock it up. If you have a brake, do NOT touch it while attempting this.

Which tires out there are the most durable for skidding? Seems like buying new tires all the time isn't cost effective.
