Silly lockring install question

With a Dura Ace lockring, which side gets mounted flush against the cog? The flat side, or the side that tapers off a little bit?

As you can see in this picture, the side facing outwards tapers around the rim just a bit.

Its been a really long time since I've put a lockring on a new wheel. I'm used to just setting it, and riding. Hell, it might not even matter... Thanks!
