Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? some dude posted a runt mini bike on the fixed gear gallery a while back, but for the last hour I've been searching and I can't find it for the life of me, it was really neat looking too (similar to this)... I thought I had saved the pic's of it but...

does anyone know which number it was? it was similar to the above bike only had mini suspension as well, and he had properly fixed it

Thanks for the compliments gents; covet those bikes more than I ought. Yep, that's the Merckx that got scratched. Never heard back from them. SOB's. Ah Well, life is good when you've got a bike you love.

here goes...

bianchi pista, 2005.

replaced the stock wheels with custom ones -- phil hubs (fixed 17/fixed 19) and aerohead rims (white, totally rare).

swapped out the crazy seat and common seatpost for white carbon. totally silly.

added shimano sante (white, of course) brakes and levers.

swapped out the stock headset with a chris king one.

next up is a set of crank brothers candy sl pedals (the stock pedals on the pista are crap), and a carbon fork, painted white (on the outside... i think i'll leave the inside carbon).

i love going fixed. i can't stop telling people how cool it is.

That is about the best looking pista I've seen. Nice job.

*blush*

thanks!

i'll have some more pix of it soon... i need to clean it up and light it correctly, then i'll have a good set. such is the joy of working at an ad agency with professional photographers. my coworkers would cringe if they knew that i posted these quickdigisnaps

i love bike projects!

I actually like the orange fork. Adds contrast. Might be nice with some similarly colored tires or saddle or grips, or something
