You could always wrap some cheap cork under it for more padding.

I have a good mind to offer to trade you my Mavic track crank for the crank on that rig (if it's Campy)

Oh well. I'm not sure of the model Mavic crank I have but it is for a single chainring & is solid. I like it but since everything else on my bike is Campy, i figured I'd put it out there.

It cost me a whopping $124.40 for the entire build

Thanks. No its a Lager, Kinesis forks, Sugino 75 cranks, Mavic Ellipse wheelset. All of the parts were off other older bikes I've had, so no, I didn't go buy expensive parts... they are used. Thought I'd get that in before anyone pops off.
