Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

So is this bike the dark twin of the pink fluffy one I keep seeing in NYC pics?

(And chrisj, great shot of that Raleigh!)

Thanks everyone!

I'm enjoying it myself. I just was out riding it. Had to come back to tighten a few things and now i'm thinking about crusing around for a little bit more.

I took this picture on the train (I used a cheap seat-post bolt that stripped so I didn't want to ride it home and cause unnecessary damage). It's not done completely, as I'm waiting for this auction for a Look Ergostem (like the kind Bikkhu has) to end, so I can get rid of that ugly nitto technomic. Here's a rundown of the parts:

GT National Pursuit Team Frame (unknown builder)
Spinergy Rev-X rear wheel, cog threaded on.
Mavic Mach 2 CD 24" tubular rim laced to a random 28h hub.
Mavic 610 bottom bracket with Mavic cranks, powdercoated black. 48t shimano chainring (spraypainted)
Corima Ellipse seatpost.
SLR saddle (a lot comfier than I thought it would be)
Syntace X-tenos bars (made by modolo)
ugly (at least for this bike) nitto stem. 70mm (the bike was built for a giant. 61cm TT for a 57cm ST).
Speedplay Frog pedals
Random brake, RX600 lever.

I'll take more pictures later.

Gannbarimasu. As a side note: does anyone know what the proper tags are to keep kana from turning to question marks in a post?

My g/f's singlespeed that I built for her. Since I don't have a ss or fixie, does this mean she's cooler than me now?

Fugazi, your bike is my hero... how has the dupli-paint held up so far? Any problem with scuffing? I'm planning on painting my bike as well and am looking for options.

p.s. I think that the "????" problem with other alphabets is one of each individual's computer settings. My computer simply doesn't know how to read any Kanna, Serilic, etc... I think your best bet is just using small pic.s (.jpg or .gif etc.) of the characters- but I'm not sure.
