Now 42x15, skippier. Michelin front tire. Yeah, that's good. Stella is a warm ride these days.

That's a great looking bike, 165. Can we get some better pics? I love the matching front red tire.

Looking good man. Nice ride. I've been looking for a red tire, gonna check out that front Michelin.

finally got my crap together and found a digital camera. Here she is, folks, Sue the Surly. Note the lovely knitted bike cosy. That would be Takhi Bianca 100% wool. Lovely, no? Also note the shiny silver handlebar airplane that flies along with me. Ah, toys.

Oh, yeah, you probably care more about bike parts than yarn. Well, then. Surly Steamroller frame, surly hubs and cog, Sugino chainring, mavic rims, unknown stem, and nashbar tt bars. No brakes. 44x17. And shimano deore cranks, harvested for free off another of my bikes. (My hope is to get real track cranks... as soon as i have money. which means probably never.)

ps-- now do you see what i mean about overlap?

165, what kind of pedals/straps do you have installed?

I'm going to go on record and guess a 50.

old skool and new skool.

The 24incher is about to get new wheel once I finish lacing the front. DM24's laced to come NOS XS 4x4 hubs, topped with some Kenda Krads

He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo.

Let's just say that Surly doesn't make 'em any smaller. And it's not like I'm supershort-- I'm 5'4". But now y'all should understand why I can't get rid of my overlap problem... and I refuse to downsize from the 700's.

BlastRadius 01-03-05 07:16 PM

I tried the 49cm from SOMA but is proved too small. I'm 5'5" and the 49cm Surly seems a bit bigger.

Most of the parts I used were things i had laying around. I am pretty excited about how it turned out (other than the saddle that makes my genitals fall asleep instantly). I keep it colorado so I have something to ride when I visit. chris (isotopesope) managed to find the white nitto stem. its a bit on the short side but the tt is a little too long for me so it makes up the difference.the cranks are supermaxi 110bcd 165 track cranks. I didn't know they ever made 110 bcd track cranks but they came with the frame and they are not road cranks for sure. i have a somec pursuit bike I am building up right now. I will post pictures as soon as its done.

that is one hot looking bike. love that stem.

these are not my bikes but my friend eric made them and i figured they should be on here so people can see what nice bikes he makes. his website is not worth checking out right now. it has not been updated in 3 years and he has progressed a lot as a builder since then. he is roomates with chris (isotopesope) so if you have questions to ask i think he might be the one to ask.

sohi 01-04-05 02:03 PM

those are really nice. cool paintjobs as well. do you have a close up of the seat tube
cluster on the army green bike?

the camo bike is rattlecan but the other was done by spectrum powder works. here is a close up

bostontrevor 01-04-05 02:42 PM

The army bike is a little too new school for my tastes generally, but combining the camo paint makes it look pretty seriously badass in a technokiller sort of way.

raygunner 01-04-05 05:39 PM

Dude, I'll take one of each!

sxe fbm rider 01-04-05 06:48 PM

I like the first one, is the black like electrical tape or something else?

bostontrevor 01-04-05 07:01 PM

Looks like bar tape.

Fianlly got some decent pics of my ride. Been having him for about 5 months now and it's my main ride to and from work (4mi each way) and anywhere else I need to go. I'm thinking about going with some fatter tires the next time around to deal a little better with the crappy New Orleans streets - but here you go. I'll repost the info about him from my first post (on p40 of this thread)

running 36x16 for now.

Frame: 56cm Bianchi Stelvio (anyone know anything about this model?)
Bars: 42cm Tsunami Toro from Chucksbikes.com (love 'em!)
Tape: white tape from chucks, tan civelli
Cranks: SunTour XC arms, PoweRing chainrings (triple for now, using 36t) 3/32"
Rear: Van Dessel Sports Flip Flop Wheel
Cog: Surly 16t 1/8"
Front: Maillard 500 with Matrix Trans (?) rim
Tires: Specialized All Condition 700x23
Stem & Seatpost: 3ttt
Chain: KMC BMX Chain. 1/8"
Front Brake Lever: Cane Creek 200tt (mounted on right side)
Front Brake: Modolo Corsa
Seat: Brooks Team Pro (thanks RainmanP, I still owe you that $20!)

In personal news, since selling my car and riding my bike exclusively in june, I've lost 15 pounds and my blood pressure and cholesterol are all below normal. Go me! :)

That's a solid looking fixie. My looks similar given that we share similar frames and the same bars. See FGG 1385 for a pic of mine. A couple of questions:

1. Why didn't you run your brake cable all the under the tape? You might be in trouble if that cable gets caught.

2. Why did you leave the extra chainrings on the crank?
