I bought the pedals from the track king on ebay. He threw in the clips for just five bucks. It was the best transaction I have had on ebay. Thanks for the compliment on my bike. Take care.

This is my first conversion. '88 Bianchi Limited. Just finished. Been riding fixed for 2 days and I love it.
I don't think red on black was ever Bianchi's best choice in color schemes. Plus, yellow bikes are cool.
So here's a before and after.

For anybody considering the Alpha Mercury/Frankestein bikes on ebay: I took the chance, and bought one as my first official fixie. It was between this and the Mercier, but this won due to my severe lack of funds. I'm still eating ramen right now.
It's not bad. The frame took a minute to get used to though. Other things; it comes with front/rear brakes, two sets of bullhorns - one large pair (would be okay if you sawed em down) and a smaller pair, the QR seatpost clamp is super cheap. The pedals - went straight to the trash (they were like somebody cut up a license plate and folded them around a spindle, and painted black). DoTech cranks are pretty cheap, but sufficient for now. Welds on the frame are pretty decent, but I found a couple spots that were kind of poopy. The bend in the top tube could probably be executed a little smoother - or not at all would be nice, and the steering is a bit more relaxed than I prefer. But despite the shortcomings, I'm pleased for the $325.
It was shipped instantaneously too, I had it less than three days from payment.
New bar tape, and new chainring. Other upgrades/changes shall ensue as money permits.
Were I to buy again, with this knowledge, I'd proably get the Mercier - just for the traditional frame and I think better cranks... anyhow, there it is...

I should know better than to go for a walk at lunchtime on payday. I passed a downtown sportsrent place and saw a clearance sign. I was drawn in. Oh nooooooo. Like I needed another bike. They apparantly buy end of season, for next years rentals. For $200 I ended up with a bike. It has seen about 25 days of use downtown on pavement. Consider this the before picture.

On my way home I stopped by a lbs that I dumped a couple of 600 derailers off at two weeks ago. He gave me a premetic flat bar for free. I already have a set of decent v brake levers I bought for another project and never used.
Tomorrow the stem gets flipped and the crap comes off. I will do the playing with gear ratios thing to keep costs under control.

IMHO, this represents one of the the finest example of an early series Cannondale track bike. The bold manipulated aluminum tubing presented in the nude suggest a 94 production. I found the Nitto Pearl stem to be both strong and beautiful; enough to mothball my ole Nitto track stem (for now anyway). Suntour Superbe Pro, Sugino, American Classic, and Sella Italia Ti Carbino round out the top-shelf components.
It's my first and only non-steel track bike. Respectively I found the Cannondale out performed the GT GTB (my brothers bike). Not by much, but it was noticeable. The ultra tight geometry with hair-trigger response demands your full attention showing little tolerance for mistakes. In short, she keeps me honest.
Weighing in at just 15.5LBS acceleration from rest is immediate with less effort and makes high-speed bursts irresistible. The Cannondale experience put a smile on my face.
BTW---That's my favorite brain bucket on the floor, a Specialized Sub-6. I included a picture of my ole Park-Pre Tange 1, pursuit FG for street use.

Sounds to me like you're probably keeping it, good choice, it's a great bike and you got a sweet deal.
By the way, I'm still using my sub-6 as well, love it.
